Thrifty Nursery Decor & Deals
I want to show any mamas who were as passionate about thrifting and finding good deals as me my “thrifty nursery” and point out (brag about) some of my best deals!
Play the video below to see a visual tour of the nursery, with descriptions and prices of the thrifty decor and furniture as you watch. Hopefully this will inspire you to get resale shopping at your local Goodwill or other thrift store, on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, or wherever you like to shop!
I prefer a collected feel in my decor, with a few vintage items sprinkled in.
One of my favorite buys in this thrifty nursery is the rocking horse, which my husband and I bought over a year before I was pregnant. I could NOT pass it up for $15 at Goodwill. It is amazing! Someone made it by hand, and carved their initials in it (NMH). Thank you, NMH, whoever you are in the Triangle area! It is so sturdy and well-made. (I may have ridden it myself, just saying.)
I also fell in love with the vintage rocking chair for $20 at a local Goodwill. I love this style. Another shopper was super aggravated to see me dragging it up to the cash register and said he was planning on buying it but hadn’t taken it up front yet because he was still looking… Awkward!
But I had actually found the chair hours earlier, went home and got cash because the store’s debit was out of order, and come back just to buy it, so I felt no sympathy (or at least not enough to let him have it). Plus I needed it for my nursery and babies come first, dude.
Looking for that sweet wall decal from Amazon? Here it is!
And, small as it is, I really love my vintage plant hanger for $1 at a yard sale. Yard sales are still my ultimate favorite resale stop. You can get the best prices for sure! I also got a HUGE similar hanger at that same sale, also for $1, that is hanging outside my back door holding a large fern. Deals make me so happy!
Probably the best buy savings-wise was the dresser/changing table combo piece, made by a popular European baby furniture company, which at one point was priced close to $2000, for $200. Talk about savings. And it is such a sturdy piece. It will last us a long time for sure. You just take the changing table piece off the top and then it is your little one’s regular dresser. Yay!
If you have awesome buys, brag about them in a comment below! I would love to hear.
